Impossible Women: Aelfric's "Sponsa Christi" and "La Mysterique" [The author analyzes Aelfric's account of the life of the virgin martyr, Saint Agnes. She focuses on the speeches that Agnes makes with an emphasis on the Bride of Christ imagery and on "la mysterique," a concept borrowed from Luce Irigaray which describes the only public space in which women can speak about their relationship with Christ.
